Yvonne Ashton, Co-Chair, Marketing Committee
Happy 2016! Many view the New Year as a fresh start or a great time to make a new commitment. Here at WF&FSA, we are doing just that by launching our brand new blog! Last year we created the Marketing Toolkit for our members and their customers, but we wanted to take action to ensure that we are following our own advice. So here we are.
The Marketing Committee has worked on a blog content calendar for the first half of 2016, but we are always open to story ideas that you may have! If you think you have a great topic for a future blog, please leave them in the comments below (if you are interested in writing the article that would be welcome but not required). A blog is nothing without great and relevant content, so let your voice be heard.
Content is a good segue for my next topic of discussion. I suppose I could go on about the benefits of the blog and other details, but I thought it would be fun to share with you something that I look forward to each year – Pantone’s Color of the Year. Since 2000, Pantone’s color experts examine the world at large to determine the spirt of the time and then select a color based on those examinations to be a star for the next 12 months. This year is the first year that the color of the year is a duo – Rose Quartz and Serenity! Pantone, the global authority on color, explains the choice:
Weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, Serenity comforts with a calming effect, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times. Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure.
Check out their announcement video:
When you see the pair, you may initially think of baby showers, right? But I have put together a Pinterest board to help inspire and showcase that light pink and baby blue can be beautiful in flower design.Â
Follow Mayesh Wholesale Florist\’s board 2016 Pantone Color of the Year on Pinterest.
Time will only tell how Pantone’s duo will affect our industry and whether it will reach floral design outside of baby showers. Tell me, what do you think about the pairing of Rose Quartz and Serenity?
CHEERS to the New Year, WF&FSA’s new blog, new colors of the year and, of course, to you!
