WF&FSA Board Member Spotlight

Janet Louie, Owner, Green Valley Floral

Each month, WF&FSA turns the spotlight on a current board member. Take a few minutes and get to know this month's board member with us!

JanetWhat prompted you to get involved with WF&FSA and join the board of directors?

I asked to join a committee and instead was invited to join the WF& FSA board and be on a committee.  I thought it was a great opportunity to serve on both at the same time.

What are the biggest benefits you receive as a WF&FSA member?

I get a lot of insight in what a wholesale, my customer base is about and what I can learn about the wholesale business in general.

What is the primary reason that you, or anyone else, should attend WF&FSA’s Floral Distribution Conference this year?

A primary reason to attend FDC is to meet potential customers and get reacquainted with existing customers.

What would you say to a company that is considering joining WF&FSA this year?

As a supplier, it’s a good way to get to know potential customers and get industry help when need.

What is your company most excited about in 2018?

Recently, we have expanded our brokering of miscellaneous product which we can promote to our customers.

When you’re not at work or serving on the WF&FSA board, what do you like to do with your free time?

I enjoy hiking and sailing with my family and growing seasonal vegetables at home.

About Your Company

Green Valley Floral has been growing cut flowers in Central California’s Salinas Valley since 1973.  We produce the finest craftsman-grown roses, gerberas and lilies.  We specialize in the newest garden-style roses and spray roses. With our ‘seamless postharvest care’ program, we place our flowers into water immediately upon being harvested and we always recommend packing vertically in water and shipping to customers in refrigerated trucks for the best results.
